Houston Quits as Deputy Mayor

May 15, 1987|From United Press International

Deputy Mayor Tom Houston, one of Mayor Tom Bradley's key advisers during his failed run for governor last year, is quitting his post next month to join a local law firm, Bradley announced today.

Houston will be replaced by former state Assemblyman Michael Gage, who is currently vice president of the Gersten Cos. business development firm and a close friend of Houston. Houston has served as Bradley's deputy mayor and chief of staff since June, 1984, and helped draft the successful anti-toxics Proposition 65 state ballot initiative.
