May 17, 1987

Utah has become the 12th state to prohibit local governments to adopt rent control laws without state approval, according to Gerald A. Blonder, president of the National Apartment Assn.

The other states are Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Lousiana, Minnesota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas and Washington. Indiana prohibits local rent control through a general statue.
