West Hollywood : Benefit Foot Race Scheduled

May 28, 1987

A 5- and 10-kilometer foot race intended to raise money for the L. A. Free Clinic and Gay and Lesbian Adolescent Social Services has been scheduled for Aug. 30.

Named after AIDS victim Tom Proctor, a professional race organizer who died at age 36 in 1986, the run and walkathon attracted more than 800 competitors in its second running last year.

"It's a healthy activity and a wonderful image-builder for the city," said Jonathan Ahearn, city treasurer and senior vice president of Unity Savings, which is donating $7,500 to sponsor the event.
