May 28, 1987

The city Parks and Recreation Division and cultural arts program are offering classes in tennis, music and drama, starting June 22.

The Parks and Recreation Division is accepting applications for its weeklong summer tennis camp for competitive tennis players 15 to 18 years of age.

The camp, which will run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. June 22 to 25, will offer conditioning exercises and drills in basic skills.

The division also will sponsor music classes for adults. "The Joy of Musicianship" will introduce students to musical notation, ear training and sight reading. A workshop in choral singing will teach classical and contemporary four-part pieces.

The eight-lesson courses will meet Monday evenings at the Culver City Veterans Auditorium.

The arts program is offering two drama classes for children. "All the World's a Stage" will introduce 5- to 8-year-olds to acting fundamentals using improvisation, role playing and vocal expression exercises.

"The Play's the Thing" will give children ages 8 to 13 the chance to rehearse and perform in a stage production.

For more information, call the recreation division at (213) 202-5689 on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
