Iran-Contra Investigation

June 01, 1987

I am appalled with the direction the congressional hearings on the Iran- contra affair have taken. The hearings were heralded as a search for the truth into laws broken and into the corruption of power. However, the bipartisan representation that was promised has not appeared.

We are subjected to half-questions by the Democrats who are afraid of being labeled "unpatriotic" if they take a firm stand. On the other hand, the Republicans are spending their time defending the Reagan Administration's actions and indulging in diatribes of right-wing propaganda, praising the contras and reinforcing the Cold War mentality. The result is that we are getting more opinion than substantial evidence.

Where is the spirit of justice we the people demand of our representatives? I say, "just say no" to this mockery and let's demand a real search for the truth.
