Thatcher Resumes Campaign

June 09, 1987|Associated Press

LONDON — Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, returning with what she said was endorsement of her economic and defense policies at the Venice summit, hit the campaign trail today running hard in the last two days before Thursday's election.

Thatcher hardly paused after her government plane returned from Italy, where she spent just 18 hours. She got a welcoming kiss from her husband, Denis, and they immediately boarded a chartered plane for a rally in northern England.
