NEW YORK — Former President Richard M. Nixon will undergo prostate surgery within a week, it was reported today.
The Daily News quoted an unidentified source close to Nixon as saying that the 74-year-old ex-President is expected to enter a Manhattan hospital "within the next seven days" and remain there a week.
The enlarged prostate was discovered during a routine physical in January, and Nixon's doctor advised him to have the gland removed sometime this year, the source said.
A biopsy performed immediately after the physical showed no sign of cancer, the source said.
