The Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues have settled their dispute over Coach Jacques Demers in an agreement that includes three exhibition games between the teams over the next four years. No other details were released.

The dispute began last June when Demers, who coached the Blues during the 1985-86 season, signed a five-year, $1.1-million contact with Detroit. The Blues claimed Demers, 43, had agreed to a contract extension several months earlier.
