Dusky Seaside Sparrow Dies; Species Extinct

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The last pure dusky seaside sparrow died Tuesday, ending a steady drift toward extinction of the stubborn little bird that refused to yield to man's intrusion, wildlife experts said.

The brown, 6-inch birds never wandered from their habitat--a 10-mile stretch along Florida's eastern coastal marshes near Titusville that man increasingly took over.
