After three years of development under founder Dr. George Lopez, ICU Medical Inc. of Mission Viejo has appointed a new executive team to guide its growth.

Winslow P. Freeman, Jr. is the new chairman and chief executive of the company, which makes medical devices designed to prevent the accidental transmission of infectious diseases between patients and health care workers. Prior to joining ICU, Freeman served as president and chief executive of Industrial Tectonics Inc. in Long Beach, a unit of A. Johnson & Co.

Miles R. Stover, formerly of General International Corp. in San Diego, was named executive vice president and chief financial officer. Jack M. Saladow, formerly vice president of sales and marketing for Omni-Flow Inc. of Boston, is ICU's new vice president of sales and marketing.

Lopez, who started the company in 1984, will remain on the company's board of directors and will serve as its chief scientist and product development leader. Michael Varner continues as ICU's president and chief operating officer.
