West Hollywood : City Council Broadcasts Begin

June 18, 1987

West Hollywood has inaugurated its mobile studio that will transmit live broadcasts of City Council sessions to about 12,000 cable TV subscribers, said Jon C. Merritt, television production supervisor.

The $197,000 van has 12 monitoring screens and includes work stations for a director, assistant director and sound engineer.

The air-conditioned van, financed by Century Southwest Communications, the city's cable TV operator, is the first component of a $395,000 complex that will include editing studios and a facility to air reruns of council meetings and other programs for West Hollywood viewers.
