Poland apologized to Bonn for shelling a West German warship in international waters during a Warsaw Pact naval exercise in the Baltic, the West German Foreign Ministry said. The ministry said Polish Ambassador Tadeusz Nestorowicz assured West Germany that the incident was an accident and extended regrets to the three sailors injured by the gunfire Monday.
