Three teen-agers led police on a half-hour car chase at speeds of up to 115 m.p.h. before they were arrested early Friday on the San Diego Freeway in Van Nuys, authorities said.
Two 17-year-old boys, one from Burbank and one from Tarzana, and a 15-year-old girl were arrested on suspicion of car theft, Burbank Police Sgt. Don Goldberg said.
The chase began about 5 a.m. when Burbank officers tried to stop the teen-agers for a traffic violation at Sixth Street and Stanford Road, Goldberg said. But the trio sped off in the car, which later was found to have been stolen from Glendale, he said.
The chase wound briefly through Burbank streets before the driver got on the southbound Golden State Freeway, he said. The chase continued to downtown Los Angeles, then west on the Santa Monica Freeway and north on the San Diego Freeway, where the peak speeds were reached, the sergeant said.
