July 12, 1987

Pam Casale won her women's singles match and then teamed with Mary Lou Piatek to take the women's doubles Saturday night as Sacramento defeated the Strings, 28-19, in a TeamTennis match before a crowd of 1,393 at the Forum.

After Casale won a tiebreaker, 5-3, to beat Lisa Bonder, 6-5, she joined Piatek to down Bonder and Ann White, 6-2, as Sacramento opened an 18-9 lead.

Larry Stefanki won the men's singles from Eliot Teltscher, 6-4, to put the Capitals up, 25-13, but Teltscher and John Lloyd defeated Stefanki and Robert Van't Hof, 6-3, in the men's doubles to force overtime. Stefanki and Van't Hof then won the first game for the Capitals (1-0) to end the match and give the Strings an 0-2 record.

Van't Hof and Piatek defeated Lloyd and White, 6-2, in mixed doubles to open the match.
