Cal State Northridge Adds Nine Recruits to Football Roster

Six junior college transfers and three high school recruits, including linebacker Mark Nixon of Glendale College and place-kicker Abo Velasco of Burbank High, have been added to the Cal State Northridge football roster.

Nixon (6-2, 230 pounds) played on Glendale's Western State Conference championship team last season. The other junior college transfers are defensive tackle Anthony Birts (6-5, 255) from Santa Monica; tight end Art Espino (6-6, 220) from East Los Angeles; wide receiver Keith Wright (6-1, 180) from Harbor College; nose tackle Mario Farr (6-1, 240) from Contra Costa; and linebacker Kevin Mullin (6-1, 225) from Southwestern.

CSUN's other high school recruits were defensive lineman Robert Navia (6-3, 240) from Palm Springs and Jim Dean, a place-kicker from La Habra.
