July 23, 1987

Civic activist Roger Creighton, who frequently has been at odds with city officials, will try to become one in November.

Creighton, who could not be reached for comment, took out filing papers for the City Council Wednesday. Two council members will be elected Nov. 3.

Councilman Tony DeBellis and City Clerk Kathleen Midstokke also have taken out papers to run for reelection. Former Councilman Gary Brutsch has taken out papers to run for treasurer. Mayor John Cioffi said he has not decided if he will seek a second council term.

The current treasurer, Norma Goldbach, has not taken out filing papers and could not be reached for comment on whether she plans to run.

A political newcomer, Michael Neiman, also took out papers to run for the City Council. He could not be reached for comment.

The deadline for filing candidate papers is Aug. 7.
