Pico Rivera : Lawn Parking Ban Eased

August 06, 1987

The Pico Rivera City Council has voted unanimously to not enforce the city's ban on lawn parking on street sweeping days until the Planning Commission can consider amending the ordinance.

The ban on lawn parking went into effect July 1, and City Hall was deluged with hundreds of calls from residents complaining that they had nowhere else to park on street sweeping days because Pico Rivera does not have alternate-side sweeping.

Parking enforcement officials started issuing warnings about the ban on lawn parking in July, informing residents that tickets would be issued starting Sept. 1.

The Public Works Committee recommended to the council that the ban not be enforced on street sweeping days until the entire city can be converted to alternate-side street sweeping, which the committee said should take a maximum of four years.
