Canadian police used tear gas to bring rioting inmates under control at a medium-security prison in Ontario, Canada Press said. It quoted a worker at the facility, which holds 500 to 600 prisoners, as saying some officers had been injured and two cell blocks were set on fire. The prison is at Joyceville, eight miles north of Kingston. The disturbance reportedly began after three prisoners attacked four uniformed officers in the inmates' quarters.
