Other highlights of the 120-play scrimmage included a 19-yard touchdown run by freshman fullback Ricky Ervins, who played in the first-team backfield with freshman tailback Scott Lockwood and quarterback Rodney Peete, and field goals of 40, 44 and 52 yards by freshman Quin Rodriguez.

A 54-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Troy Aikman to junior receiver Fritz Jordan was the only score in UCLA's first major scrimmage at the Rose Bowl. Aikman completed 5 of 9 passes for 89 yards.

Brendan McCracken, also a junior quarterback, completed 4 of 7 passes for 40 yards; senior tailback Gaston Green rushed for 28 yards in 6 carries, and junior tailback Eric Ball gained 51 yards in 7 carries.
