Insurance: Passed and sent to the governor on a 52-12 vote a bill (AB 231) by Assemblyman William H. Lancaster (R-Covina) to allow the state insurance commissioner to order insurance companies to form a temporary pool to provide commercial liability insurance if coverage is not available.

AIDS: Passed and returned to the Senate for concurrence in amendments on a 64-0 vote a bill (SB 1001) by Sen. John Doolittle (R-Rocklin) to require physicians to offer marriage license applicants a test for AIDS.

Juries: Passed and returned to the Senate for concurrence in amendments on a 45-24 vote a bill (SB 445) by Sen. Quentin Kopp (I-San Francisco) to permit courts to import juries from another county rather than move all other participants in a court case when a change of venue is ordered.

Salvadoran: Passed and sent to the Senate on a 66-1 vote a resolution (AJR 50) by Assemblywoman Lucille Roybal Allard (D-Los Angeles) condemning recent violence committed against Salvadoran refugees in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Senate Floor Action:

Animals: Passed and returned to the Assembly for concurrence in amendments on a 28-3 vote a bill (AB 1475) by Assemblywoman Marian W. La Follette (R-Northridge) to increase the potential penalty for the conviction of abusing one's own animal from a misdemeanor to a felony.
