Santa Ana : Store Clerk Assaulted; Robbery May Be Motive

September 08, 1987

A clerk at a convenience store, an apparent robbery victim, was found lying in a pool of blood inside the store Sunday morning and was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition after emergency surgery.

Police said the night clerk at the Circle K store at 600 S. Newhope St., identified as Sultan Siekander, 35, of Yorba Linda, had been struck hard on the back of the head "with an unknown weapon."

They said he had been found by the day clerk as he reported for work at 6 a.m. It was uncertain what time the attack occurred.

The store's cash register had been taken, presumably by Siekander's assailant, police said.
