BONN — About 20,000 railroad workers marched through Bonn on Thursday to protest government plans to reorganize the rail network and lay off 10,000 employees this year, trade union spokesmen said.

The demonstrators called on Transport Minister Juergen Warnke to drop plans to streamline the industry, which is losing $1.8 billion annually.
