Forrest E. Hoglund, who had been considered a front-runner to succeed USX Corp. Chairman David Roderick when he retires, resigned unexpectedly to take over oil and gas operations for Enron Corp., Houston. Hoglund, 54, had been president of USX's Texas Oil & Gas Corp.
