Call Of The Wild

September 13, 1987|Leonard Klady

John Hughes, lately associated with Paramount, will produce his next film for Universal. Entitled "The Big Country" (no relationship to the 1958 Western with Gregory Peck), it's a comedy about two couples who go off together on a less-than-blissful camping trip, with Dan Aykroyd and John Candy as the harried hubbies.

Hughes scripted but Howard Deutsch ("Pretty in Pink") will direct. Filming is to begin Oct. 12 for a June release.

There's been no official word whether Hughes will also continue his association with Paramount, where he's completed "Planes, Trains and Automobiles," with Candy and Steve Martin for Christmas release, and "She's Having a Baby" for February.
