Father Clings to Speeding Car

September 16, 1987|From United Press International

A woman was arrested for felony child endangering when police spotted her speeding erratically through Hollywood with her kidnaped daughter inside the car and the girl's father clinging to the hood, officials said today.

Laura Feher, 24, had apparently taken the 3-year-old girl shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday from the home of the child's maternal grandmother, who had been granted court custody of the child, Los Angeles Police Lt. Sergio Robleto said. The girl's father, Pedro Mendieta, 23, saw Feher fleeing with the child and tried to stop them by jumping on the hood of her AMC Hornet. The car careened through the streets of Hollywood at speeds up to 50 m.p.h. before a patrol car finally stopped it and arrested the mother on suspicion of child endangering, Robleto said.
