Circuit City Stores said its second-quarter net income rose 51% to a record $10.8 million from the year-ago quarter. The Richmond, Va.-based retailer reported that revenue for the three months ended Aug. 31 rose 33% to $289.3 million. The company attributed the improvement to increased revenue as well as improved operating and net profit margins. Circuit City is the nation's largest specialty retailer of brand name consumer electronics and appliances.
