The opening concert on Oct. 11 at 4 p.m. will present Mozart's Piano Trio in E, K. 542, John Harbison's Piano Trio (1969) and Schubert's Piano Trio in B-flat, Opus 99. Martin, violinist Miwako Watanabe of the Sequoia String Quartet and pianist Antoinette Perry of the UCLA faculty will perform the first two concerts of this series.
Other concerts in the series are planned for Dec. 1, Jan. 26 and May 3. Future participants include pianists Richard Goode and Menahem Pressler, violinist Joseph Genualdi and violist Brian Dembow.
The late cellist Mischa Schneider, to whom the series is dedicated, performed with the Budapest String Quartet, among other ensembles, and was a friend and mentor of some of the musicians participating in the concerts.
