Local News in Brief : Pacoima Man Slain After Quarrel at Bar

September 23, 1987

A man was shot and fatally wounded Tuesday as he sat behind the wheel of his pickup truck outside a Pacoima bar, Los Angeles police said.

Jasiento B. Mora, 26, of Pacoima died at Serra Memorial Hospital after being shot once in the upper torso at 1:30 a.m., Detective Al Ferrand said. The shooting occurred outside the Nopalito bar at Van Nuys Boulevard and Tamarack Avenue after Mora and another man had argued over a woman, Ferrand said.

Police said the gunman fled after the shooting. Ferrand identified the suspect as Juan Rivera, 23, and said he was still being sought Tuesday.
