Alan J. Forrest has been appointed chair of the department of architecture in the School of Environmental Design at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Forrest has been a full-time visiting professor in the School of Architecture & Allied Arts at the University of Oregon.

Brian Norkaitis has been promoted to senior vice president for the William Lyon Co., Newport Beach.

Alison W. Maguire has been appointed director of property management for Hutton Development Co. Inc., Santa Ana. Maguire will be responsible for management of the company's projects, including Hutton Centre, Woodbridge Medical Center in Irvine, and Malibu Savings Bank, Costa Mesa.

Richard T. Norfolk has been appointed executive vice president of the Pacific Design Center, where he will be responsible for the leasing of the Phase II Expansion. Norfolk, former president of International Market Square in Minneapolis, is secretary of the World Assn. of Merchandise Marts.

Victoria J. Crayne has been appointed executive director of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Architects, replacing former executive director Janice Axon. Crayne, previously administrator of the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation, will be responsible for administration, management and supervision of operations.

L. J. Melody & Co. of California, Irvine, has announced the appointment of Guy K. Johnson and Benjamin F. Wood as vice presidents and principals of the firm.

Stephen Gregory Hall has been named associate project manager for Richardson Nagy Martin, Architecture/Planning of Newport Beach.

Norman E. Harms has been named project surveyor for Engineering Service Corp., Culver City.

Todd M. Later has been appointed marketing manager of Figueroa at Wilshire, Los Angeles.

Paul B. Pressman has joined the law firm of McKenna, Conner & Cuneo in its Orange County office, serving as counsel in municipal, environmental and real estate law.

Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, a Los Angeles law firm, has named Hamid Nahai a partner specializing in real estate law.

R. Craig Overturf has been named president and chief executive officer of Cal Fed Syndications and of Cal Fed Investment Management Corp.

Arnold Steinberg, president of Arnold Steinberg & Associates Inc., Los Angeles, has been nominated by President Reagan to serve on the board of directors of the National Institute of Building Sciences.

Roger Torriero, president and founder of Griffin Realty Corp., Santa Ana, has been selected to serve on the executive task force of the Transportation Management Assn. advisory board, which assists the Orange County Transit District's Commuter Network in studying traffic management for the South Coast Metro area.

Gerry Martin, former director of acquisitions for Intervest Resources Inc., has joined the major loans division of Newport Pacific Funding Corp., Newport Beach.
