Harris Associates, a Chicago investment management firm, said in an SEC filing that it has bought 5.1% of Carter Hawley Hale Stores on behalf of clients . . . New World Entertainment, Los Angeles, has given up its hostile $47-per-share tender offer for the 91.6% of Beverly, Mass.-based Kenner Parker Toys that it doesn't already own . . . TI Group of London has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Bundy Corp. for about $144 million. Warren, Mich.-based Bundy is a leading manufacturer of small-diameter tubing . . . Houston-based Baker Hughes Inc. reported that the number of working oil and gas drilling rigs in the United States slipped by seven last week to 1,094, from 1,101 the week before, but up from 806 a year earlier.
