October 01, 1987

Goodwill Industries of Southern California has extended its donation pick-up service to include the Southeast area cities of Commerce, Downey, Lynwood, Maywood, Montebello, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs and Whittier.

"We have added three truck routes and six employees to our pick-up crew to provide greater service to the Southeast area," said Dan Mulcahy, vice president of community relations. Routes are scheduled twice weekly for the new service area. The program will be expanded as demand increases.

Goodwill Industries of Southern California is a nonprofit vocational rehabilitation agency headquartered in Los Angeles. The organization solicits repairable household articles, such as clothing and reusable household goods, from the public. Donated items are reconditioned by disabled workers as part of their job training in preparation for work in regular industry. Anyone interested in scheduling a pick-up may call Goodwill at (213) 222-5131.
