October 01, 1987|Associated Press

MEXICO CITY — The federal attorney general's office has destroyed more than 1 1/2 tons of cocaine in the last two months, the government newspaper El Nacional reported Wednesday. It said that the bulk came from a single case.

The cocaine was burned as part of the campaign against drug trafficking in Mexico, considered a major source of drugs for the United States.
