Defensive tackle Tim Newton of the Minnesota Vikings has become the fifth player on the National Football League team to be arrested on drunk driving charges since November.

The Minnesota State Patrol said Newton was arrested at 2 a.m. Monday, but Newton said it was a case of mistaken identity.

He said he misplaced his driver's license more than a year ago and that it must have been found and used by the man arrested.

The State Patrol said, however, that there was no question that the man arrested was Newton.
