Oklahoma football Coach Barry Switzer strongly denied a report that his staff arranged auto loans, sold game tickets and offered other illegal inducements for football players.

"Oklahoma doesn't buy players," Switzer said in response to allegations about the Sooner football program made in a story in the Dallas Morning News. Switzer said that allegations made in the newspaper are out of date and do not reflect the university's current athletic ticket policy.
