Water Official Censured : Local News in Brief

October 09, 1987

After disclosing that bad investments had cost the Three Valleys Municipal Water District more than $900,000, William Koch, director of the district, which serves the eastern San Gabriel Valley, has been censured by his fellow board members for allegedly leaking confidential information.

Koch was accused of disclosing the district's loss of $900,000 of the $1.5 million it invested in November with E. F. Hutton & Co. and of improperly revealing that the district intends to sue the investment firm to recover its losses, something discussed in executive sessions, board members said.

Koch said the information he provided to citizens and newspapers had been discussed by the board in open session. The censure vote was 3 to 1.
