Mission Federal Credit Union, which used a $500,000 net profit in 1986 to reduce members' Visa card rates from 15% to 12%, will use a $1-million net profit for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31 to boost interest rates on members' passbook savings accounts.

Mission Federal expects to report a $3.6-million operating profit for 1987. It reported a $3.1-million operating profit for 1986.

The San Diego-based credit union has $278 million in assets and 60,000 members.
