October 21, 1987|JULIE CART

It's not the rivalry that it used to be, but tradition counts for something when UCLA plays USC in volleyball. The women's teams will play tonight at 7 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion.

Each team has won four national championships, but fourth-ranked UCLA would appear to have the upper hand in this match, with a 17-4 record, 7-1 in the Pacific 10. The Bruins are second in the conference, trailing Stanford, which is 8-1.

UCLA is led by Lori Zeno, who is fourth in the conference with an average of 4.01 kills per game. She is leading the Bruins with a .373 hitting percentage.

The Trojans (9-7) are ranked 14th and are in fifth place in the Pac-10 with a 5-3 record.

USC has not won a game from UCLA in their last four meetings, and UCLA leads the series, 30-27.
