The cliche cupboard is apparently bare this week as three Democratic presidential candidates used the same phrase to characterize Monday's stock market crash. On Monday, Sen. Albert Gore Jr. of Tennessee said: "The voodoo chickens of Reaganomics have come home to roost."
And earlier in the week, Missouri Rep. Richard A. Gephardt said: "I think the chickens are coming home to roost."
After refusing to comment on the crash Monday, Massachusetts Gov. Michael S. Dukakis weighed in Wednesday with: "After six or seven years of massive federal deficits, the chickens are coming home to roost."
