Boeing Co. said its board authorized the repurchase of up to 15 million shares depending on stock market conditions. The Seattle aerospace company was among dozens more firms that authorized stock buybacks in a depressed stock market. Knight-Ridder said it intends to buy up to 1 million shares; NCR intends to buy up to 10 million shares; Motorola plans to buy up to 5 million shares; Boise Cascade intends to buy up to 4.2 million shares and International Air Lease plans to buy 300,000 shares. Alaska Air Group, which intends to buy up to 1 million shares, said it has repurchased 320,500 since last week.
