Jessica McClure, the 18-month-old girl who was trapped 2 1/2 days in an abandoned well in Midland, Tex., was in serious but stable condition after more surgery on her right foot, a hospital spokeswoman said. Jessica's foot was severely injured during her 58-hour confinement in the well that ended Oct. 16, and doctors have been working to save the foot from amputation. During the surgery, surgeons cut away some dead skin from the outside of the foot and the heel, Midland Memorial Hospital spokeswoman Sue Ristom said. The procedure did not involve the toes. Doctors last week said the tip of the big toe and the little toe would probably have to be amputated.
