A gang of kidnapers led by Ireland's most notorious outlaw fled police in a hail of gunfire, dragging away a handcuffed victim, a member of one of the nation's wealthiest families, authorities said. Police, in a manhunt for dentist John O'Grady, kidnaped 12 days ago, stormed a house in the village of Middleton believed used as a hideout for the gang, led by Dessie (Border Fox) O'Hare, who is wanted in almost 30 killings. But as police approached the house, the gunmen opened fire and escaped through the cordon, dragging O'Grady with them, authorities said. They hijacked a van and two cars in making their getaway.
