Old Air Raid Siren Gives Town a Rude Awakening

October 29, 1987|Associated Press

NASHUA, N. H. — Police got about 2,000 phone calls early Wednesday, after an old civil defense siren that had been silent for years blared out an alarm without provocation. The siren, at Elm Street Junior High School, sounded for 33 minutes. Police said that wind and rain during the night may have caused a short circuit.
