The Planning Commission on Monday approved a transitional zone change for portions of commercially zoned Charleville Boulevard that face single-family residential areas.
The change, which must be approved by the City Council, would restrict the height of commercial structures facing residential areas to two stories or 35 feet for the first 30 feet from the street. In addition, a six-foot landscaped setback along the commercial property would be required.
The commission also added a provision that would require a conditional use permit for uses other than office space in parcels within 50 feet from the street after the Southwest Homeowners Assn. claimed that businesses such as restaurants or night clubs might be built there.
