Boeing Co. Chairman T. A. Wilson will retire at the end of the year after a 44-year career.
Wilson has been elected chairman emeritus and will continue to sit on the board. Boeing President and Chief Executive Frank Shrontz will assume the title of chairman, the Seattle-based company said.
Wilson first joined Boeing in 1943 after graduating from Iowa State University as an aeronautical engineer. He became president in 1968, chief executive in 1969 and chairman of the board in 1972.
Shrontz took over as chief executive officer in February, 1986.
