The University of Nevada Las Vegas has been formally notified that its recruitment of Lloyd Daniels, former New York City star basketball player, is being investigated by the National Collegiate Athletic Assn.

The investigation will apparently be the first against the program since 1977, when the NCAA suspended UNLV Coach Jerry Tarkanian from coaching for two years and put the basketball program on probation. Tarkanian sued to block the suspension, however, and won the case in a Nevada court in 1984.
