Punter Mojsiejenko Says His Arrest Was Caused by His Status as Athlete

SAN DIEGO — Punter Ralf Mojsiejenko of the Chargers said Tuesday that he thought his status as an athlete had caused his arrest on suspicion of drunken driving Monday night.

"I felt that there was some prejudice because I'm a football player," Mojsiejenko said. "I'm definitely going to fight it, because I feel in my heart that I was innocent. They gave me a test, and it could have gone either way. I try to portray an image that's clean, and I think that's what I am. That's why it's embarrassing. I've never touched drugs in my life, and I very seldom drink.

"I was playing golf with some friends, and how much trouble can you get in on the golf course? I'm confident that in the long run, the truth will come out in my favor."

Mojsiejenko said his court date had been set for Dec. 2.
