November 05, 1987|From Reuters

LONDON — British business tycoon Peter de Savary said Wednesday that he has paid $11.71 million for Land's End, the most westerly point in England and a major tourist attraction.

For his money, De Savary gets 105 acres of land and cliffs, a gift shop, most of nearby Sennen village, the First and Last bar--and thousands of schoolchildren annually wanting to know how far it is to the United States.
