Pepperdine's student newspaper, the Graphic, has been chosen to receive the West Regional Pacemaker Award from the Associated Collegiate Press.
The awards are given to the best 20 college newspapers, chosen from more than 500 entries in an annual competition. Four of these newspapers will be selected as winners of the National Pacemaker Award by the American Newspaper Publishers Assn.
Liz Sarafian, a 21-year-old Pepperdine senior who serves as editor-in-chief of the Graphic, has been chosen as one of 200 students nationwide to attend a leadership conference on "Corporate America in the International Arena" in Chicago from Nov. 8-10.
The conference, sponsored by the Foundation for Student Communication, will feature speeches by distinguished business executives and educators from throughout the country.
