MORNING REPORT

Tv & Video

November 06, 1987| Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

Speaking of morning programs, Bob Keeshan, who has spent 32 years keeping kids entertained on morning TV as Captain Kangaroo, has come out strongly for sending unsupervised children to day-care centers, maintaining the move could help keep them out of prison as adults. "It costs $35,000 a year to keep someone behind bars. Wouldn't it have been more sensible to spend a few thousand dollars a year the first seven or eight years of that person's life? We'd have developed a taxpayer, not a criminal," Keeshan said this week at a seminar on day care in Knoxville, Tenn.
