Beverly Hills High School teacher Joan Allemand has been named California's Outstanding Art Educator for 1987. The state council of the California Art Education Assn. presented the award to Allemand for her continued promotion of youth art and educational programs.
The presentation was made at the association's conference in San Diego on Oct. 24. Allemand has been involved in statewide and local art activities including youth art exhibitions, educational training and the promotion of art scholarships.
Allemand joined the Beverly Hills school district in 1961. She holds a bachelor's from De Pauw University and advanced degrees in art history and administration from UCLA.
